I don't know if there were two mopeds or a moped and a scooter etc. Also, why were scooters on the highway? what was the speed limit?? -Wayne

Moped driver dies on highway

A Maryland man died Saturday night after he fell from his moped on State Road 415 and was hit by a car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Dwight Gregoryof Mechanicsville was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said. No one else was injured.

Gregory and a friend, Christopher Ross, were driving mopeds in the southbound lane of State Road 415 near East County Circle Drive when Ross tried to pass Gregory, the FHP said. Gregory swerved, colliding with Ross, and was thrown from his scooter.

The man slid into the northbound lanes, where he was hit by a Ford Mustang, the FHP said. The impact knocked Gregory back into the southbound lanes.

Gregory was not wearing a helmet, the FHP said. Neither Ross nor the driver of the Mustang, whose full name was not released, were charged in the accident.
