Lawyers Plan To Work Out Settlement

NEWPORT, R.I. -- A jury awarded a Newport woman more than $3 million for an accident that happened while she was riding her moped.
Denise Dulac sued the company that runs a city parking lot after she struck a gate in 2000.
Dulac said she was driving into the lot before sunrise one morning -- on her way to a coffee shop she owns -- when she hit the gate. She said she could not see that it was down.
Dulac had to have 10 major surgeries on her knee.
The jury decided on the $3.2 million award last week, but lawyers for both sides said they plan to settle for less.
