JULY 24, 2005 -- Two children were involved in a moped accident just before 7:00 Sunday evening. Both of the children were taken to the hospital after a crash with a vehicle.

Police say the children were riding the moped, going the wrong way down Dawson Street. According to police, the moped collided with an SUV that was crossing the intersection of 8th and Dawson.

Police say the 12-year-old boy is being treated for a leg injury. The 8-year-old girl that was riding with him had only minor injuries.

Police say both were wearing helmets, but they were knocked off during the accident. The boy is being charged with a wrong way violation and driving under the age of 16.
