CLINTON - A man was arrested on a drug possession charge on Friday following a traffic stop on his moped, according to reports filed at the Clinton Police Department. Crack cocaine was found under the man's moped after he allegedly ran a stop sign, the reports state.
Kenneth Scott Foster, 38, of 805 Kennedy St., Clinton, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine. He also was cited with a stop sign violation. Bond was set at $10,000.
According to reports by Clinton Police Officer Darryl Grady, he and Agent Willie Bowden observed Foster failing to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Betty and Maple streets.
The moped was stopped in the yard of a Betty Lane residence at 10:20 p.m., reports state. Grady stated in reports that, as he approached the moped, he saw a bag under the vehicle that contained an off-white rock like substance.
According to Grady, the moped tires were in a position that, if the drugs had already been there prior to the moped, the tires on the two-wheeled vehicle would have crushed it. Bowden, said Grady, stated that the cocaine was not on the ground prior to the moped being approached by officers.
The police department's K-9 unit, Officer Chris Cantrell and dog Dandy responded to the scene and Dandy reportedly indicated that there had been illegal narcotics on the moped.
Approximately 2 grams of crack cocaine was seized, as well as $462 in cash, reports state.
