Q-and-A with Wendy Ausdemore
Iowa Travels to Wisconsin

What is something few people know about you?
"I grew up on a farm where my dad kept me busy raising pigs, putting up straw, walking beans, and hauling in corn. My favorite part about it, though, was driving the tractors and hauling in corn with my dad and brother."

What is your favorite Will Ferrell movie?
"Old School. You know it makes for a pretty nice little Saturday, but my favorite clip of Will Ferrell is Spartan Cheerleaders from Saturday Night Live."

Is there any significance to your uniform number?
"Not really, but I always had to wear No. 54 in junior high school because it was the biggest jersey, and then after I watched Love and Basketball, and actually got to pick my number in high school, I wanted to be wear No. 32."

What is your most prized possession?
"My most prized possession is probably my moped, The Red Razz, even though it is currently at home because of the cold weather, but I don't have a car here at school so it gets me around and I enjoy riding around Iowa City with the other freshmen."

Explain how you got your nickname, Roo.
"Well, I don't know exactly how my Grandma came up with Roo, but I was named after my Grandpa Wendall (Wendy) who died when I was six months old, and my Grandma didn't like calling me Wendy right away, and somehow Roo came out and it stuck."

If you could have an all expenses paid trip anywhere, where would it be and why?
"Anywhere tropical so I could relax and lay in the sun on the beach all day, and I would take Krista with me because she would lay in the sun all day too without complaining."

What was your first job as a kid? Did you like it?
"My first job as a kid was cleaning out the pig pens and barn. I didn't have much choice about doing it, but I made it fun because I would play with the baby pigs."

What is your biggest pet peeve?
"My biggest pet peeve is when someone takes a bite of food, and runs their teeth along the fork. I hate the sound of it, and it gives me goose bumps."

What was the best concert you've been to?
"Well I haven't been to very many concerts, but Tiffany took me and Nicole to a Billy Currington concert at the beginning of the school year, and we got to sit backstage and touch Billy and talk to the drummer. It was a small concert, but it was still a lot of fun."
