Man seriously injured in moped accident

TWO RIVERS - A moped collided with a van Tuesday evening at the intersection of 11th Street and Parkway Boulevard on the south side of Two Rivers.

A 32-year-old Two Rivers man was riding his moped on 11th Street while a 52-year-old man, also of Two Rivers, was driving his van southbound on Parkway Boulevard. The moped rider struck the passenger side of the van at the intersection, ejecting the moped rider.

The moped rider was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers and airlifted to Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

Wisconsin State Patrol responded and assisted in the reconstruction of the accident. No citations or charges have been filed at this time.

The Two Rivers Police Department is still investigating the accident.

TWO RIVERS – The Two Rivers Police Department has released the names of the people involved in the moped and van accident Tuesday evening.

Timothy Flemal, 32, of Two Rivers was the driver of the moped and Keith Kappelman, 52, also of Two Rivers, was the driver of the van.

The accident occurred at the intersection of 11th Street and Parkway Boulevard, where Flemal struck the passenger side of Keppelman’s van.

Flemal wasn’t wearing a helmet and was ejected from his moped, suffering serious injuries. He was transported to Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers and airlifted to Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

Kappelman was uninjured.

Flemal’s condition is unavailable at this time.

The police department is still investigating the accident.
