A moped uses a lane for motor vehicles on a section of the Humin Elevated Road, a part of the newly built Middle Ring Road, near Caobao Road. Many sections along the Middle Ring Road haven't set aside lanes for bicycles and mopeds, forcing cyclists to brave vehicle lanes.-- Shanghai Daily

Zhang Jun/ Shanghai Daily news

The scheme follows a newspaper report that cyclists and scooter drivers were being forced to illegally use the same lanes as cars and trucks because parts of the road only had vehicle lanes.
