A Tacoma man was killed late Sunday when his moped was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the South End, Tacoma police reported.
James Nance, 43, was going northbound on South Hosmer Street just before 11:30 p.m. He passed through the green light at the intersection with South 72nd Street and headed into a business complex, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

A full-size pickup truck heading east on South 72nd Street ran a red light at the intersection and struck Nance. The truck briefly slowed, then accelerated away from the scene, Fulghum said.

Nance was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, where he died.

Police described the truck as dark-colored and a late-1990s model. It should have front-end, passenger-side damage, Fulghum said.
