Jacob enjoyed taking rides on his moped with friends

Jacob J. Hermann Jr., 72, of 1825 Barrett Street, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 14, 2006 at his home.

Jacob was born October 31, 1933 in Sheboygan to Jacob and Natalie (Kielius) Hermann. He was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1951. After graduation Jacob worked in the family dry cleaning business, Economy Cleaners. He served in the National Guard for 12 years, and completed the necessary training for his career with the police department. ... 67/SHEnews

In 1962 Jacob joined the Sheboygan Falls Police Department as a patrolman. In July of that year he was promoted to Sergeant.

On December 23, 1962 he was promoted to Chief of Police. Jacob had the honor of serving as the president of the Wisconsin Police Chief's Association. He retired from the Sheboygan Falls Police Department on January 2, 1989 after 27 years of service.

Following his retirement, Jacob enjoyed taking rides on his moped with friends and going out to breakfast. Jacob was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada and Northern Wisconsin, especially Hayward where he caught Muskies.
He also enjoyed planning family picnics and spending time with his children and watching his grandchildren grow. He loved his home on Barrett Street and the sights and sounds of Lake Michigan.
He married Lois Wittkopp on June 5, 1954 and they made their home in Sheboygan Falls.
On May 29, 1982 Jacob and Sonya Hirschau were married.
In addition to his wife, Jacob is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Tim) Darr of Plymouth; a son, Jon (Ambra) Hermann of Sheboygan; a step-daughter, Ramona (Mark) Stoll of Medford; and a step-son, Eric Monahan of Appleton; Jacob was also blessed with 10 grandchildren, Tim Jr., Taylor, Alexandra and Sara Darr; Michael and Andrew Hermann; Samnatha and Connor Monahan; Liza and Brooke Stoll; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his aunts, Ann Kielius and Isabelle Michels.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 6:00 P.M. at Ballhorn Chapels. Rev. William McCaskill, Pastor of New Life Community Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery.
