Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Div Around Vietnam On A Bike
"they bombed around on a moped for a while"
November 24th, 2006 at 15:30 by Stuart Heritage

Regardless of how much Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie want to save the world, it's hard to call their recent visit to India anything other than a disaster - so who can blame either of them for wanting to cut loose and try again somewhere else?

That's the logical reason Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have surprised everyone by suddenly turning up out of the blue in the commercial sector of Ho Chi Minh City, where they bombed around on a moped for a while, ate some food and disappeared again. The illogical reasons why Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were in Vietnam include: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie playing flutes through the streets of Ho Chi Minh in order to lure the city's children into following them to the dock where Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will trap them in a special adoptosack; and that Angelina Jolie's next role will be as a Vietnamese woman and she was there doing a reconnaissance mission to find the most offensively stereotypical colour of face-paint to use.

We're going to go with one of those reasons, but we're not sure which just yet.

Thanks to Newsweek Brad Pitt has been deemed a Great American, and we're guessing it has something to do with the way that he keeps going abroad and pissing all the locals off. When Brad Pitt went to France he kept complaining about how much Paris smelt like cabbages, his time in Namibia with Angelina Jolie ended with both of them being labelled as "colonial overlords" and his recent visit to India didn't exactly go down amazingly, either.

Although the plan was for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to go to India to make a well-meaning movie about the widow of murdered journalist Daniel Pearl, the trip quickly deteriorated into blacked-up mess of snapper-choking and boy-injuring and commuter-annoying and apparent racism. But when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie left India, we couldn't shake the feeling that they'd pop up again somewhere before too long.

And, what do you know, they did. State-published Vietnamese newspapers today published pictures of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie cruising around the streets of Vietnam capital Ho Chi Minh City on a grey moped during a whistlestop visit to the country, as Reuters reports:

State newspapers said the couple flew into Vietnam on Thursday from Cambodia, the birthplace of their adopted son Maddox. They were seen dining at a Vietnamese restaurant undisturbed and were due to return to Cambodia on Friday. It was not clear if their children were travelling with them.

And everyone's a winner in this story - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie get to leave the media storm of India behind them and have a relaxing break, while Vietnam gets a little bit of positive publicity. Well, when we said 'everyone' we didn't mean Hanoi construction worker Nguyen Van Thu, who is more confused by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's appearance in Vietnam than he really has any right to be:

"I saw the pictures in the newspaper but still have no idea why the fuss about these Westerners. But now maybe I will watch their movies to know why."

Bless. Now, if it was Lindsay Lohan divving about Vietnam on a grey moped then it'd be a different story from Nguyen Van Thu completely…

A little digging and I found photos. Not a moped.
