No spark on a Geely scooter - HELP!

Postby Bill_B » Mon Feb 02, 2009 5:58 pm

Im working on an '03 geely 50 cc scooter thats turning into a project,
it has no spark, it has weak voltage to the coil (white) wire, if i put 12V jumper wire to it , still no spark , or maybe a problem with the magneto ? its been sitting for a year or two

Most likely it is the stator. My dad bought an 03 Geely from a neighbor for $15 .He could not figure out why it didn't have any spark so he sold it to my dad. After trying everything from coil to cdi, we finally figured it out. We pulled the magneto and found that the solder on the ignition pick-up was broken. We re-soldered the connection and it fired right up. But after running it for about a week,it suddenly died. We pulled the magneto again and the solder had broken in the same place. We have since replaced the stator and it runs very well. A VERY CHEAP SCOOTER TO SAY THE LEAST!!! Hope this little tidbit solves your problem too. Good luck

well, i figured out the no spark problem, then i found out it had low compression (75psi) .......D'OH !
i told my friend it may be cheaper to buy a used RUNNING scooter, rather than taking it apart & fixin it
too bad he paid $200 for it .........D'OH !
