If you are getting electric for it to start, you are probably getting electric for it to run. That means it's either running out of gas or air.

I'll second Bryan's suggestion of the float or needle in the carb.
You may want to check your air delivery system. You could be getting too little or too much

Thanks for the replies. I turned the carb upside down and blew into the inlet and it was sealed. I put it right side up and I could push air. I thought by doing this I verified the needle and seat were working.

He also has a second carb for the bike and when I put it on it does the same thing

Sounds like you already know the drill . . fuel, spark, and compression. A might indicate a potential issue . . such as intermittent spark. Checking the valve lash establishes a "troubleshooting baseline", and eliminates that gremlin . . .

BINGO! It was the valves. I set them both to .004". Two more questions

1. I think there is supposed to be an external air filter on the intake tube / snorkel. This one is missing one. Would not having that on cause light bogging and sluggishess? I put a piece of foam on the end of that tube and it seemed to run fine. Or could my valve adjustments be causing this?

2. There is 4 nipples on the fuel valve. Only 3 are used. How do I know which ones to use?

I would think that the air filter being missing would hurt it. Too much air is the same as too little gas

generally the larger hose (2) are the fuel lines
the smaller one is the vacuum line
your fourth one not sure what its for..
as for the missing air box replace it or find a pod filter and up jet
you might move the needle clip down too
