Five-sided Allen bolt

Postby JD » Sat Sep 26, 2009 4:02 pm

Yes, that's what is holding together the exhaust on my TGB Laser 50. No one in the local hardware or auto parts stores has ever seen such an animal. One could almost think that the manufacturer (under directives from [glow=yellow]THE STATE[/glow]) didn't want me to get in there because I might defeat some of the horsepower restrictors!

Vice grips did the trick, and I replaced all the fascist fasteners with more libertarian ones.

Funny thing is that there wasn't any restrictor in there! (Although something loose is rattling around in the exhaust; maybe it's the carcass of some long-deteriorated governing device?)

Right on, JD!!!!! I have a TGB 50cc Delivery that MountainMoped has just
about completely derestricted, still have some carb mods to do. Installed
an MRP muffler. TGB makes a great product, IMHO!!

I haven't been able to find that MRP exhaust anywhere, 'cause that's my next step. I'll check with Bryan to see if he's got a couple in stock.

Metric allen keys have 6 sides. Some 'security' fasteners have 5 sides or are same as torx with a raised dot in the center or 3 sides or 4 sides or are 2 or 3 divots on the periphery of the fastener head.
You can usually buy a 'security' set of keys and sockets from either the discount online places or SnapOn.
Processed on shared equipment that may have come in contact with nuts.
