Poor performance

Postby Elekrik » Wed May 25, 2011 2:03 pm

The scooter would start OK, take off and run a few miles and then begin to miss and loose power. With only about 3000 miles on it. I suspected a fuel flow problem or carburetor. Checked all that and then thought about a air leak somewhere. Did find a crack in a vacuum line, but I might have done that myself from pulling on the hose. Finally found the problem was just a dirty spark plug. It was black. Probably baked on gas when it was not firing? Anyway, sandpapered it a little bit and put it back. Runs fine.

Should try the easy stuff first. Actually not that easy to get to. Gotta take some of plastic panels off first to get to it. There is a little trap door in the bottom of the seat box. Can see the plug, but only Chinese hands could reach it.

Is this typical? Some of these lesson are so hard to learn.

yeah , normal for the plug to be a issue, but after a few
other problems you'll be a pro!
2 twice my scooter would just stop running for no reason
found it was the spark plug cap on the wire .
it would get loose and make a bad connection or just fall off.
after the 2nd time, i put the scooter on the lift and unscrewed
the cap and put a better one back on.
