Need some help

Postby firari50 » Tue May 28, 2013 9:07 pm

Hello, how is everyone doing? I'm new here and also new to the scooter world. I recently picked up an 88 Yamaha razz for a great price. I threw in a new battery and some fresh gas and it fired right up. Now I am having this problem where the engine will go like its at full throttle but if I open the choke it'll idle fine. I'm not really sure what the problem could be. Any advice would be awesome.

Thanks

Hi firari50, and welcome. I would start with taking the carb apart and thoroughly cleaning it. Maybe get a replacement if cost is reasonable.

I would turn the idle screw out and see if idle goes down( larger screw)next turn the fuel mix screw out, if nothing happenes the carb could be dirty, also check the vaccuum line it maybe rotted.
