I AM NEW HERE

Postby pculp2 » Sun Aug 18, 2013 5:06 pm

Hey everyone!! When I found this forum I thought to myself I finally found a group where I can connect with people like me who love riding gas scooters.

A little about me:
My name is Phil and I love to ride my scooter as well as mess around with it to make it even better then it was before ;)

I own a 1997 Yamaha CY50 JOG Stock

I am working on modifying and need a source for assistance as I am more used to the honda elite 250 and honda nighthawk 450 then my yamaha.

On the list of things to do with my scoot:
Big Bore kit (trying to locate the 100cc kit but so far no luck in finding it.)
Carb to match the big bore
Better Shocks
High performance parts including things like clutch air filter brakes exc...
liquid cooling system
Trying to find a way to add a larger rim to the front. I know it can be done to the back but I would like to match them if possible. Will make the faster speeds a little better to handle.
Seat changing to two seater
Better tires cause the stock ones suck and I can't get any more stock ones anyway.
Side kick stand cause I hate lifting it when I park it.
Painting the bike as well and looking into ideas for that over this winter.
New exhaust is at the top of the list just not typed on top here lol

I have already removed the restrictor washer in the variator but it still being limited somewhere. I Think its in the exhaust port but not totally sure.

She is having issues with not accelerating well especially when hot. This happened after I added a second gas tank under the seat for longer trips. It smells rich but the carb is fine and adjusted properly so I don't know.

Ya thats enough for now lol

Anyone who knows about these please fill me in. I love my little scoot but I need to make some changes. Could use a hand.

I did at one time belong to a group on yahoo for Honda Elite 250's but they don't have any information this bike. The odd person had owned one but they were more about 150cc and up scooters.

I have looked for a group but have not located one yet and I have looked carefully over the past year.

I don't know about Canada, but the Jog is almost unknown in the U.S. One of the best 50cc scooters to modify is the Yamaha Zuma 50 2 stroke. I believe it is called the BWS in Canada. There are tons of information and parts for that scooter.

???????
the most modded scooter motor is the yamaha jog .
it has the most , biggest variety of mod parts.

the jog scooter itself is rare . but not the motor ....just about 90% of the 49cc 2t scooters use the jog

Interesting. I found this.

http://www.motorscooterguide.net/Yamaha/Jog/Jog.html

But I don't believe I have ever seen one, or if I did, I didn't know what it was. I am a member of 3 scooter forums, and the Zuma/BWS and the Honda Ruckus are the 2 main scooters that get modded in the U.S. I have heard of the Jog, but that's about it. The Riva name, just like the Honda Elite, is very well known.

There is also a Franco Morini jog engine which i am currently rebuilding, you can build a 120cc jog engine known as a full stroker but i like my honda Japan/dio conversion engines.

the history of the minarelli is merged with morini..

In 1950, Vittorio Minarelli and Franco Morini set up a factory together "FBM (Fabricca Bolognese Motocicli SrL)" to produce motorcycle and moped engines. Sometime after that they decided to start their own companies in Bologna: Vittorio Minarelli under the name "Minarelli" and Franco Morini under the name "Morini Franco Motori". This last company was founded in 1954. The basic 50cc moped engine of both factories was nearly identical. Some parts could be swapped without any problem.

Thanks for the info Guys. Actually I now have a more important issue I must resolve. Shortly after posting in August I found out that we were expecting a new baby :) So excited. Anyway its safe to say I don't have the ability to currently upgrade till a bit later down the road.

Anyway I ran into some pipe or something while they were doing construction by my home. Damn thing wasn't marked and I hit it and it nearly knocked me over at 40kph so ya that could have hurt and it did but instead of hurting me it unfortunately hurt my bike. My exhaust is dented in pretty badly.

Anyway I can repair this problem or will I need to replace it? Also bike is making more noise almost as if the exhaust seal is worn and I am burning more gas and lost some power. Didn't see a hole or crack tho so it isn't sucking air that I can see.

Phil

Oh and in regards to the Jog I have found lots of people who have them in the usa mabe not where you live personally but I keep finding most parts for example are found in the usa and pics and videos of people on youtube for example that have them. Not so much in canada tho. Anyway the engine is one of the most moddable engines out there that I have seen. Its a very good engine and from what I can see so far is capable of being upgraded as far as 100cc and to upgrade to 70cc requires little for the upgrade where the 100cc requires a little more.

more noise is a leaky or broken exhaust~ remove it and examine.

modding bigger then 70cc requires boring the case to
receive the bigger cylinder

Polini also makes a contessa and a corsa 70cc bore kit which i also have on my scoots, i would change the exhaust- leo vince makes an sp-3 exhaust that will work with most bore kits.
