We are having more problems with the cold than the snow. There's less than two feet of snow on the ground, but the high temperature today, AGAIN, is 14 degrees F.

We had a negative temperature one night last week.

Who ever heard of these kinds of temperatures in late February and early March?

Record low temps here last night too. Not much better today. Supposed to get warmer this weekend. I can't wait to leave for Florida on Saturday.

I rode 65 miles total today on 5 different scooters. In some spots a fine little rock is on the streets. Extra care is a must but still had fun riding.

Ya it is warm enough in the gym to do spinning on a stationary bike up here in Canukistan.

Yearning to ride my scooter, I watched the thermometer creep into the 40's and decided to jump on it (the bike, not the thermometer.)

The roads have taken a major beating here, and tire-eating potholes lurk beneath deep puddles of melting snow. The roads were heavy with weekday traffic and I got splashed repeatedly as I serpentined around the craters.

I don't care. It was 37 miles of grin-inducing bliss.

Good to hear you got a ride in today JD. I also rode 10 miles Sunday and 45 miles today. It does feel good to ride. One more day of riding before winter returns for 2 days.

Got in about 65 miles of riding yesterday. The weather here in Florida is in the mid 70's. Can't wait to hit the roads again today.

Lar,

Motorcycle Speed Week is going on in Daytona right now. You should ride your scooter up to the Boot Hill Saloon and park in the middle of all the Harleys.

Bryan, we figured it must be Daytona bike week this week. Kim and I saw hundreds of Harleys being ridden and towed on Saturday on our way down here.

If I had my scooter here, I might have gone down there, but we have our mopeds and it would be a hellish ride to Daytona on our peds. Next year we plan on towing our Kymcos to Florida, so we may do it next year.

Thanks for the heads up!

I was in St. Augustine and Daytona last week due to a death in the family. I was amazed at the number of 50cc scooters on the streets in both towns. There were also many Harleys in the area. I have been down there during bike week several times lately. The days of the Hell's Angels, Outlaws, and Warlocks at MC Speed weeks are about gone--you are much more likely to see young professionals and old retired people riding the bikes. There have also been growing numbers of bikes other than Harleys there. There are always a dozen or so fatalities blamed on Bike Week and the trip to and from Daytona. The News Journal keeps tabs on the accidents.

JD, we're in Spring Hill in Hernando County. It's about an hour north of Tampa.
