scooter ride

Postby tomos03 » Mon Jan 13, 2014 12:41 pm

Just got back from riding 4 different scooters in my stable. I rode a total of 20 miles. Yesterday I rode 2 bikes a total of 20 miles. So all 6 of the bikes in my stable were ridden. Great Ohio weather you got to love it.

I didn't get to ride my scoots yesterday, but I did start up my Kymco People 250 for the first time this winter. She fired up after just one hit on the starter button. She starts better than my Honda scoots which usually take several attempts to get started after a long period of non-use.

I'm looking forward to riding my moped in February/March when Kim and I go visit her folks in Florida.

Fuel will evaporate from the float bowl and engine case so a one kick start is not real, i pre fill the bowl and rotate fuel every 30 days.

Lucky you, 15 inches on the lawn and 2 more at dinner time. The rain has started now for the next 10-12 hours they say. Thunder and lightning, expect power outage also. Ride while you can Jeffy

I got some more riding the last two days. I went 100 miles on my new to me Honda PCX 150 scooter. Its fuel injected and runs strong. I really like it. I think I wiil be riding this on the next few rides I go to. Jeff

Nice looking scooter, was looking at them at the bike show in Toronto on Friday. Now they need to get a larger displacement motor in them... say at least a full 300cc.
Enjoy but what one are you giving up?

I think I will give up my Buddy 125. It has 10 inch wheels and feels funny at speeds above 60 mph on the speedo (53 gps speed). The PCX 150 has 14 inch wheels and feels great at any speed. It tops out at 65 gps verified. Some riders say they have topped out at 71 mph using gps. Jeff

Going to Florida next Saturday. We'll have two mopeds in tow. Can't wait to get out of this freezer.

I was in Nashville visiting my daughter last weekend and it was PERFECT riding weather. Saw lots of scooters and even a couple of mopeds. Unfortunately, it's not convenient to check a scooter as baggage on Delta Air Lines. And carry-on is out of the question.

And then I came home and sulked in the snow and cold.

The closest I get to riding these days is walking behind the snow thrower. Somehow it's just not the same.

We lucked out big time last night. We were supposed to get over a foot of snow, however, the storm ended up tracking farther south and we just got a dusting here. No shoveling today. Thank God!!
