Just got FA50 for free!

Postby Rusty Bikes » Mon Dec 19, 2005 10:24 am

Well it finally happened to me for a change.
I was basically given a Suzuki FA50 which is in need of a Carb and a bunch of other stuff.
I actually want to build a long low "road warrior" stand-up machine similar to the one Longbiker builds in Texas.
But first to get it running.
It's weird to be in the middle here in NOped land. Not good enough to be a moped, not good enough to be a scooter...
Pictures to follow.

First big problem.
The Damn CDI is missing!
Bike "Bandits" wants $111 for one.
That puts this in the back of the line till I can find a used unit on ebay.

Got spark!

Postby Rusty Bikes » Wed Jan 04, 2006 9:43 pm

Well, I bought a bunch of parts for this bike from a guy in Canada cause I saw the CDI unit bolted to the oil tank.
Hooked up the CDI today grabbed the spark plug and have her a kick.
Yeah! I got spark.
Still don't have a carb so I poured a couple of tablespoons of premix in the manifold and kicked a few times, by about the 8th kick it fired up.
Of course with out a Carb it was like WOT and wanted to leave the corral.
I cant wait to get this thing on the road for a test drive.
It's hard to visualize the changes I want to make when I cant even ride it yet.
I do have an idea for "segmented" wrap around fenders made of aluminum.
Sort of like a doodle bugs shell.
Someone want to hook me up with a carb?
