GY6 125cc valve gap

Postby oilyhans » Fri Jan 06, 2006 8:15 pm

Can someone tell me the IN & EX valve lash for
a GY6 125cc stock motor, I can't get a 2mm feeler in the space. I'm thinking 4 & 6-8mm is what it should be.

Also on the cam gear there are 2 small holes 180 deg. apart
with a line scribed thru them and 1 larger hole 90 deg. from them ... So TDC is when the big hole is at 12 oclock.. Right?
thanks,
oilyhans

I'm not familiar with your machine, and I don't know what the valve lash spec is by the book, but I agree with you and would use the measurements (.04mm, and .06-.08mm?) that you feel. Those have always felt to me to be the safest guestimate when in doubt or can't find specs.
If one of them ticks after adjustment, or seems to have a tad less compression, I'd guess .05mm on both, as lots of these little things run best at.
Now on the cam gear hole arrangement...hmmm...
I would find the position at which after the intake valve has closed, with both valves closed (compression stroke), and piston at TDC, then look at the hole and alignment markings arrangement and orientation.

Hope this helps.

Speaking of feeler gauges, I wish that they would make that 0.01 gauge a bit thicker so that it doesn't bend so easily.

Where are we going, and why are we in this hand basket?

Cool -

Now I can set my valves to take advantage of my dual encabulator intake manifold.
