Kickstand for my Streetmate

Postby Harlandis » Tue Jul 19, 2011 3:12 pm

I bought this kickstand for my Streetmate from treats. I installed it the first time with 1/8" of shims on the bottom side of the rectangular mount, and within a few miles they worked their way out. There's just too much vibration to do it that way. Also, the clamp mount had moved back on the swing arm about an inch.

This morning I drilled a hole large enough for a 6mm bolt through the clamp and the swing arm. I mounted it with some fender washers to deflect the bolt head pressure out over a wider area, and put a lock washer under the nut. The clamp mount still bears all of the weight, and the bolt keeps it from moving. The bolt hole was drilled about an inch from the cross-member of the swing arms, so it shouldn't have weakened the arm significantly.

So, if any of you Tomos riders out there decide to get one of these stands, be aware that you'll need to mod it a little to make it work.

I feel a whole lot more like I do right now than I did when I first got here.
