Odd tire size and questions

Postby TooJung2Die » Sun Nov 27, 2011 4:01 pm

I'm having a hard time sourcing a 2.00-14 front tire for a QT50. Lots of 2.25 tires available but no 2.00 that I can find. Does anyone know of a shop that has these tires? If not, will there be clearance problems if I use a 2.25 tire up front? I'd hate to have to remove the front fender.

In the Jet Sticky, what measurement is the jet size convention used? Metric or wire gauge? I've always used inches because that's what's in my drill index.

How do you folks categorize bikes like the QT50? Is it a moped, noped, or scooter? I see photos in both photo galleries.

Noped but it is all the same actually. 2.25" will probably work. check to see how much clearance you have at present with the mudguard and also on the side stays. If you can get your finger in I would think you would be good to go.

I'll answer this. I just put on a 2.25 Kenda on the front and it "just" hit the metal fender stays. I elongated the mounting holes at the wheel hub so the fender could move up away from the tire. Good to go.

BTW: they were the origional 1981 tires, don't do as I do.

Jet sizes are metric: just put a decimal in front, and it's mm.
I feel a whole lot more like I do right now than I did when I first got here.
