tail pipe spew and water!!!!!

Postby oilyhans » Sat Apr 28, 2012 3:02 pm

so this is weird.
been working on a targa and have replaced fuel with fresh,
added seafoam to gas & oil. cleaned the carb.
there is lots of spew and water coming out of the tail pipe.
and of course can not rev beyond 1/4 throttle.
any idea what is going on?

thanks for any input

Grung the Seafoam is dislodging in the head and tailpipe. Might have been better to clean the exhaust by itself with caustic soda (drain cleaner) first. Don't forget Seafoam helps to burn up the Seattle moisture that has formed in your tank! You may want to drop the bowl on the carb when done and clean out the jets.

When you drained the gas did you lean the LX over on its side to get the other side of the saddle. It really never gets used and is a repository for all the crude/water/rust etc. It pays to run the tanks down often and tip the bike. It is a extra reserve if stuck out in the boonies and usually enough to get home in a pinch.

the worst i've ever seen. huge pieces 1/16" or so.
the first time i drained the fuel it was only the main tank

how does kreem work in these frame-tanks?

POR15 is a better product. Left over can be saved for another time once you pour excess out before it totally skins and hardens. If it is a in frame tank you may need to get inventive how you hang it to rotate the sealer on the interior. Have heard of people hanging naked frame from a hoist or even a tree. Plug petcock bung with a wood dowel. Take your time.
