New Maryland Moped Laws

Postby Madturbine » Wed Oct 03, 2012 8:20 am

On October 1, Maryland instituted new moped and scooter laws to require helmets, eyewear, and even worse - registration and insurance requirements for scooters and mopeds. WTF? How does one go about trying to repeal such a law????

Such a pessimist you are, John.

It isn't easy to change a law, but it can be done. They recently amended the motorcycle operating laws in Michigan to eliminate the helmet requirement, ostensibly in the interest of tourist revenue. Not sure how many extra dollars we're bringing in per busted head.

Try approaching your local state representative. That's a place to start.
