VERY VERY SLOW TAKE OFF

Postby datonamanmike » Mon Jul 29, 2013 4:34 pm

HELLO FRIENDS
I have a 2012 SSR lazer5 moped with a 72cc kit
I have smaller rear sprocket no limit CDI
this is it http://highstylemotoring.com/MOPED.html
if you cant click on the link copy it into your browser
the bike runs very well I realy like it
it runs about 45MPH or so the speedo says im going
50MPH but I know better

my problem is it takes off like a snail I mean realy slow
once it gets to about 3000RPM then picks up real good
from zero to 3000RPM snails pace im having to pull over
into the bike lane (when there is one) to let cars by
what can I do ....a bigger sprocket in the front ??
if yes can some one point me to some one that sells em
iv just hit 500 miles so im going to adjust the valves
and check the timing
the carb has been properly re jetted and im running the
stock air box
the moter is just like a Honda clone motor horizontal
except the motor has pedals
thanks for all the help in advance
one last thing to add it is a 4 stroke motor

If you put a smaller rear sprocket on that would kill the take off power (geared to high). Talking to my sales rep at SSR it's takeoff power is lacking as a 50 and the Big bore kit helps the bottom end to where it should be. You may be able to get away with 1 tooth less on the rear sprocket but not more.

Did you change the sprocket back? How's the take off?
