Amsoil Saber: too good to be true?

Postby RebelRider.Mike » Thu Jan 09, 2014 3:47 am

I came across an advertisement for Amsoil Saber 2-stroke oil.
https://www.treatland.tv/amsoil-saber-professional-synthetic-oil-p/amsoil-saber-1-quart.htm

It claims you can use it as thin as 100:1 in engines that would normally take 50:1. Anyone tried it?

Have used it but in injected bikes. 100:1, use at your own risk in old 2 strokes.

So you've used it at the same ratio as any other oil?

I've looked around the internet a bit. Seems like many folks who use this stuff mix it anywhere from 80:1, up to their engine's recommended mix.

It may not be an issue but my thinking is why risk the 2T motor for so little oil. Really my preference when using synthetic oils was Ipone or Redline. who really wants to be tearing in to a motor after building it up to be a screamer. Besides parts are not cheap, but maybe labour is! I never had a piston/motor failure with using those oils.

I ran Amsoil Sabre 100:1 in SlugO on his record breaking run..24 hours/3 minutes wide open on a Tomos moped around Lake Erie 677 miles never fouled a plug or missed a beat!
