can someone advise whether there is a a sequence of tightening the axle bolts on a Puch maxi.
I repaired a flat rear tyre and after refitting the wheel it seems to be binding some how although the brakes not attached. should tighten one side before the other?

The tightening sequence shouldn't matter. It sounds like your bearings are binding. Make sure the axle cones are loose enough to keep the bearings from binding. It may be time to disassemble the axle assy, clean and grease everything and then reassemble.

As Larry says, think of the cups/cones on a bycycle.... similar set up.
