EGT And Cyl. Head Temp Gauges

Postby Antique_GZR » Sun Nov 27, 2005 1:46 pm

At www.egauges.com are cylinder head temperature gauges made by Auto Meter and VDO that can be adapted for moped use.

At www.ultralightnews.ca there are exhaust gas temperature gauges made for 2 cycle ultralight aircraft engines. They also could be adapted for moped use. This is a Canadian site so U.S. prices would be cheaper.

The temperature baselines would be whatever your moped indicates as a normal baseline - the temperature spikes are what is important in tuning and running.

I put my first cylinder head temperature gauge on a motorcycle about 35 years back. The dudes got a kick out of the cosmetic look - but it did indicate impending problems before they got serious.

And for serious racing, the EGT gauge is about as fine tuning as possible for small engines.
