Aaaaa, just a thought, and I don't mean to be offensive, but how much of a load are we talking about? LOL

Hahaha. Even a runway model would be too much load.

So a TFR with a 300 lb. rider could pull it up a driveway in a tug-of-war?

How much load? Good question. When I hop on it, 220 lbs. OK, maybe more.

But my 14 year old son hops on and he's 140 lbs. And it bogs down. Runs like the wind on its centerstand ... sucks wind with a load.

A very bad sign: I removed the cover to check out the clutch, and I discovered that the bolts have been welded on. So, disassembly from this side (the port side, using boat terminology) is impossible. Am I screwed?

Which bolts were welded???
If it's the engine mount bolts, then I'd think you could grind the welds lose, and maybe even replace them once you have the old ones out ...

Check for airleaks! The carb to intake, and airfilter to carb are the two most notoriuous places for the Kinetic to have an airleak.

Here is a picture, about the welding. Also, notice that I don't really have an air filter (there is a rubber boot that protects the front of the carb but I've removed it while I try to solve this power problem).

As you can see, the bolt that holds the clutch (the left circular do-hickey) is welded on. I might be able to free that one, but the right-most circular do-hickey is really welded together.

The gaskets between the carb and the intake, and between the intake and the cylinder are trashed. I'll manufacture a couple of new gaskets, check my sleeve valve, and put the carb on again.

I had the same exact problem with my '92 Jawa 210.

Replace your coil and all will be good.

I'm game; the carb must be good (I've fabricated new gaskets and I've cleaned carbs before). So, ignition coil huh?

On my Jawa, it doesn't really look like a coil (not a cyliner anyway). It's a rectangular box with the spark wire. By the way, I completely removed the thyristor and the bike still starts up and behaves exactly the same (I can rev the snot out of it on its center stand, but no power if I'm sitting on it - that is to say, as I throttle up, the rpms pick up ever so slightly but then top out and do not really get up there).

So, where do I get a new ignition coil?

oldest fault in the book.....
exhaust coked up
clea the pipe out or try it very brielfy without it
if it goes like stink then you know it needs a new pipe or the old one cleaning out
ride it like you stole it.. then fix it an ride it some more....

rootie007 ... thanks for the input, but we have already covered this ground. I took the pipe off completely (from the jug) and it ran the same. Tipped the bike over on its side and looked up the exhaust port; did some poking and grinding around but it was in pretty good shape. I'll look again, but I don't think it's the exhaust. Thanks for your input.

No, I still haven't solved it. I took the motor off and cracked open the cylinder. It's clean; all holes, ports are clean. So I'm certain it's not an exhaust problem.

I am beginning to suspect the coil (thanks to the helpful suggestion). I checked spark with a more critical eye. There is spark, but it's not very strong.

We must be getting closer; ruled out carb, ruled out exhaust, I'm pretty sure there is plenty of air, so that only leaves spark.

So where can I get a new coil? Is there a way to test the old coil?
