HICKORY, N.C. -- A Hickory man, not allowed to drive a car because of he suffers from seizures, is attacked and robbed of his moped Tuesday morning.
According to police, 31-year-old David Lingle was heading to work on his 2000 black and silver Cobra Moped when a man walked out onto U.S. 70 in Hickory and forced Lingle to stop.
Police said the man had a knife, held it to Lingle's throat and forced him off the moped.
Investigators said that Lingle was also robbed of his money.
"I don't care about the moped. They could have had it. They could have had his money. But they didn't have to scare him. I worried all day that he might have a seizure," said the victim's mother, Joyce Beard.
Investigators ask anyone who knows the location of the moped to call Hickory police.
